This will be our fourth outreach trip to Haiti since the earthquake. Our efforts will focus on a number of clinical programs including orthopedics, plastic surgery, internal medicine, anesthesia, nursing, radiology, and pediatrics. Additionally, we will continue our efforts to rebuild the infrastructure at the Hospital of Peace in Delmas, Port-au-Prince including water purification, instrument sterilization, general engineering & bio-med, along with IT and materiel management.
The team is made up of 8 physicians, 7 registered nurses, 5 therapists, 7 engineering & bi0-medical staff, 1 radiology technician. While the majority of the team is made up of healthcare workers from the St. Joseph’s Health System at St. Joe’s Hospital in Hamilton and St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener, we also have reps from other hospitals including Holland-Bloorview, Rouge Valley, McMaster Children’s, and Hamilton Health Sciences along with industry partners from Philips Canada and Getinge. All of this is made possible with the support of our donors, the Canadian International Development Agency and of course, our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton
We meet at Pearson airport this Saturday bright and early at 6.00 a.m.
Wish us luck and keep the Haitian people in your thoughts and prayers.
